Includes actual welding on your track components.  Course will be as many days as needed, altered to fit your particular requirements and number of attendees. Prerequisite:  students should be capable of passing Flat Weld Bend Test.

CLASSROOM TRAINING

• Safety in operating oxy-fuel and arc welding equipment
• Proper setup and use of equipment
• Basic metallurgy of manganese steel
• Proper welding of carbon steel rails
• Proper welding procedures and techniques with wire and stick welding of track components
• Grinding and air arc gouging.
• Problems arising from improper welding

SHOP TRAINING — HANDS-ON

• Preparation of track components for repair welding
• Air arc gouging and grinding
• Proper pre and post welding procedures
• Welding techniques on track components
• Repair welding on track components with wire and stick
• Proper finish grinding of track components

FIELD TRAINING — HANDS-ON

• Inspection of your welding equipment and accessories used for welding on your track components
• Inspection of your track components
• Actual field weld repair on your track components, with your equipment & welders
• Discussion and evaluation of repairs done in the field
